A Proud Heritage of Service through the Years 1928 a humble beginning in a 25x100’ store in Tyler Texas. 1330’s Brookshire’s had four stores in Tyler and Longview, by the end of the decade, including the first air conditioned store in East Texas. 1940’s East Texas received five more stores, located in Winnsboro, Longview, Gladewater & Kilgore. The company also built its first shopping center store, located in Tyler. 1950’s Expansion continued with stores added in Corsicana, Marshall, Sulphur Springs, Paris, Greenville & Mt. Pleasant. The first grocery warehouse was built in Tyler in 1953. 1960’s a bold step across the state line into Shreveport, LA by the end of the decade the company had grown to 31 stores, including Louisiana stores in Bossier City and Natchitoches, Texas stores in Wills Point, Terrell, Palestine and Mineola. The company built a 175,000 sq foot distribution center in Tyler during 1968. 1970’s the company experienced an explosion of growth, doubling in size to 62 supermarkets. Other significant steps were the expansion into the Arkansas, where three stores opened and the first bakery plant opening. 1980’s Strong growth continued despite trying economic times. A significant milestone was the move into the North Texas market, with stores opening in several communities. Also more than 250,000 sq feet were added to the distribution center. 1990’s the company’s second distribution center opened in Monroe, LA in 1992. Two years later Brookshire’s acquired a 491,000 sq foot complex South West Foods north of Tyler. Major expansions occurred in 1995 & 1997 with the purchases of 21 supermarkets in Central West Texas, South Arkansas and North Central Louisiana. Taking in former warehouse space the Tyler office received a 40,000 sq foot expansion and remodel. The company launched a site on the World Wide Web. 2000’s Steady growth continues into the 21st century. Early in the decade the company took steps to accommodate future retail growth by adding a 300,000 sq foot refrigerated warehouse at the Tyler Distribution Center and by expanding the frozen foods warehouse by 50,000 sq feet. In 2002 the company added another state to its market area with the acquisition of four stores in the Jackson, Mississippi area. Brookshire’s continues to open new stores and to expand into additional communities. In its commitment to keep stores updated and fresh the company has also replaced and remodeled numerous stores in recent years and has added energy efficient systems, innovative and exciting customer centric services as stores are built or remodeled. The 3rd Annual Trick or Treat at the Pavilion will be held Saturday Oct 31st 5:30pm-7pm. Exit 343 to perform and Cisco PTO Hayride. If you would like to hand out candy at the pavilion or at your place of business please contact the Chamber ASAP in order to reserve your spot at the pavilion and make it on the hand out sheet. The chamber will be handing out FREE trick or treat bags starting Oct 1st and list of participants prior to and the night of Trick or Treat at the Pavilion. Last year almost 800 kids came through the pavilion and word has spread throughout the county that Cisco is the place to be for Halloween so start stocking up on candy now. Current participants are: Ann Williams Real Estate, Arnold Locksmith Service, Crossties, County Line, Pizza Heaven, bboxlady.com, Mountain Top Church, Two Gunz Salsa Co., Cisco OES & Masonic Lodge, Horner Cabinets, Marcia’s Creations, Mark’s Brakes & Alignments, Ledbetter Insurance, 4 Seasons, Jr Chamber and American State Bank. There is still room at the pavilion so sign up now. Elect-A-Scrooge has officially started make sure to go by any or all of the following locations between now and mid Nov. American State Bank, Crossties, Cisco Hardware & Supply, Plexus Healthcare and Cisco Chamber of Commerce. Voting is easy all you have to do is put your spare change in the container of your favorite Scrooge. Scrooge candidates are James Haferkamp with Brookshire’s, Courtney Miller with Mary Kay Cosmetics and Walter Fairbanks with the Cisco Fire Dept. The one who collects the most money will be Scrooge and grand marshal of the annual lighted Christmas Parade Dec. 1st Special thanks to Fullen Motor Co. who will be providing both Scrooge and Santa with a ride during the parade. Hunter’s mark your calendar for Nov 7th 11am-1pm Community Pavilion on Conrad Hilton. Food, Raffles, Prizes & More. Your valid Texas hunting license is your admission. Judge Rex Fields will be hosting this year. Proceeds from the basket will go to the Jr Chamber Community Involvement Project to help raise funds for Good Fellows and make holiday goodie bags for the residents of Homestead Nursing. The first annual Leon Boles memorial gun show will be held inside the Hilton Center Nov 7th & 8th 9am-5pm. Admission is $3.00. Vender space is available 8x10 space with 1 chair is $20, 8x10 space with one table & one chair is $25. Holiday Market at the Hilton is Nov 21st 9am-5pm & Nov 22nd 11am-4pm located at the Hilton Center and Community Pavilion. With over 40 venders ranging from gift items, wood work, candies, jewelry, arts, crafts and the list goes on you are bond to meet all your holiday shopping needs in one location. Venders and Shoppers alike will be able to enjoy soups, sandwiches, pies, cookies, turkey, dressing and more from the Holiday Market Kitchen. Shop, Eat and Shop Some More! The Jr Chamber will also be selling chances to win a holiday gift basket to be given away Sunday by the end of the show. Proceeds from the basket will go toward the Jr Chamber Community Involvement Project to raise money for Good Fellows and make holiday goodie bags for the residents of Homestead Nursing. This year’s parade will be held Dec 1st with lineup starting at 5pm and the parade kicking off at 6:15pm. This year’s theme is “Storybook Christmas” .Entry decorations can be from any Christmas story so pick your favorite and have fun. Judge Rex Fields will be announcing the parade with Christmas music provided by Mixmaster Productions. We’d like to thank Horner Cabinets for sponsoring the first place trophies, Sonic for providing ice cream/drink vouchers for kid entries, Fullen Motor Co for providing Santa and Scrooge with a ride and Brookshire’s for Santa’s Candy. Following the parade will be the Annual Community Tree Lighting at the Pavilion and Santa will be inside the Hilton Center. Please bring a camera if you’d like pictures with Santa. The annual tour of homes will be Dec 1st 5pm-9pm. Ticket prices and list of homes will be announced soon. Make sure to stop by the holiday bake sale located at the Pavilion starting at 5pm. Cakes, pies, cookies, breads, candies and more for your holiday party, office, last minute gift idea or just for you the reasons are endless.
