The annual fall citywide garage sale will be Saturday September 6^th. Bring your listing and $7.00 to the chamber. Registration begins Aug 1^st and will end Aug 22^nd. Remember if you are registered with the city wide you don’t need a city permit. Yes, there will be spaces at the Pavilion for garage sales but only 7. You HAVE to be registered with the city wide to set up at the pavilion and you will need to reserve your space ahead of time. The first seven who signup, pay and state they want at the pavilion will be the ones at the pavilion. Chamber members if you want to have a sidewalk sale or any kind of clearance sale during the citywide let me know I’ll put you on the list & it’s FREE!!!

Holiday Market at the Hilton will be November 22^nd & 23^rd. Vendors have already started calling and claiming their spaces so don’t get left out contact the chamber office at 442-2537 or come by 309 Conrad Hilton Ave for more information. The holiday market isn’t just for vendors it’s a great opportunity to showcase your items and put you in two locations (your place of business and here) for holiday shoppers! Chamber members will receive a discounted booth rate, flyers advertising event to hand out at their business and will be listed in a sneak preview write up that will be in the November newsletter and handed out here at the chamber. Spaces are limited so don’t wait!!!

Life can be so hectic. Wouldn’t it be nice to have good home-cooked meals ready to eat with little effort? Most folks don’t have a personal chef to take care of this daily task. With a little extra effort now and some freezer space, a person can cook once and eat twice or more. Join us August 20th at noon for a “Lunch and Learn” as we prepare healthy recipes to help make your life a little less hectic. Attendees are treated to a healthy lunch and program presented by Halee Mitchell, Eastland County Extension Agent and Kara Compton, Registered Dietitian presentation, followed by a question and answer period. Lunch and Learn event cost will be $5 per person and are held in the Eastland County Courthouse Conference Room on the 1st floor. Reserve your space today by calling the Eastland County Extension Office at 254-629-2222.

It’s back and not that far away. We will be having the 2^nd Annual Trick or Treat at the Pavilion Oct 31^st 5:30pm-7:30pm. Spaces will be available at the pavilion and along the sidewalk. Businesses on Conrad are also encouraged to hand out candy at their place of business. A list will be made of all those participating with name and location listed. Last year was such a HUGE success. People were even asking that night if we were going to do it again. Mark your calendars, claim your spot and stock up on candy!! There were hundreds of kids last year I expect even more this time.

Looking for something fun and creative for your youngsters to do this Summer? Sign them up for Sewing Camp! August 21st and 22nd at the Eastland County Courthouse. Not only will they have a great time but they will learn a lifelong skill. At the sewing camp they will make projects that will help them build the fundamental skills necessary for sewing. Sewing camp offers them a fun and safe environment, where they can learn and be creative during those hot summer days. Several projects will be sewn during the day. Please register for Sewing Camp by Monday, August 18th by calling the Eastland County Extension Office @ 254/629-2222.Cost is $5.00. Supplies will be purchased for those calling in by the registration date. Those not registering ahead of time may not have supplies to make all the crafts.General supplies to bring to workshop everyday:

* Sewing Machine with extra needles – be sure you know how to thread your own machine. If you don’t have a machine, call the Extension Office at 629-2222.

* Plus additional supplies requested above for the day/days you plan on attending.
