Hilton originally planned to purchase a Cisco bank , but when the bank owner raised the promised sale price he gave up the effort.

     Hilton was frustrated and went looking for a place to sleep for the night. He found that there were no rooms avalible. He saw that the owner of the Mobley Hotel , Henry L. Mobley , was renting all avalible beds for eight hour shifts.

     He saw that there was more opportunities in business here than just banking. Hilton and Mobley quickly struck an agreement , since Mobley wanted to get out of the Hotel business and seek his fortune in oil. So Hilton purchased the Mobley.

     As Hilton's experience and confidence grew , he decided that he wanted to expand his hotels to other Texas cities. He left a business partner , Mr. Drown , to manage the Mobley while he went to Fort Worth to renovate and open the Annabel Hotel.

     In 1924 he sold the Mobley to his mother, Mary Hilton , where it stayed in the family until 1931 , when it was sold to J.M. Radford of Cisco.

     Through the years the hotel has had many functions. It has been a boarding house, nursing home, and a private residence. The Hotel remained vacant for many years and it continued to deteriorate. The Hilton Foundation put up $ 1.2 million dollars for the restoration of the Hotel. The Hotel is now used for the Cisco Chamber of Commerce, museum , park , and community center. The Mobley has also earned its place in the National Register of Historic Buildings.
