Community Watch

We have established a community watch program for the citizens of Cisco. It started in 2000 and we have many established neighborhoods. Most all of the funding for the program comes from donations made by Hillside Village Apartments. Sgt Jason Weger and Manager Don Wallace felt a need to try and get a community watch program started in the apartments and thus the watch program was started. It started small with only a couple of neighborhoods, but has grown to other parts of town.

We have extensive resources to help new neighborhoods that want a watch program get started. But the only way this program will work is if you are committed to getting crime out of your neighborhood. It doesn’t take very long each month and it also gets you familiar with your neighbors, which is a must. We see all too often that people don’t know whom they live next to even if they have lived there for years.

This program can be adjusted to fit your neighborhood’s needs. It isn’t only for law enforcement and crime but can be used for Drug Awareness, Personal Safety, First Aid, Health and Safety, Fire Prevention, City or County Planning, Disaster Preparedness, and many other subjects. There is an abundance of information and people out there that know about these topics and are very willing to come talk with you and your neighbors. Watch programs have proven themselves to be effective not only in the fight against crime but to improve the well being of the entire community. What direction the community decides to take with the program is its only limitation.

Community Watch programs are known to instill a greater sense of security, well being, and reduce the fear of crime in your community as well as create a greater “sense of community” and put the neighbor back in neighborhood. Community Watch also brings law enforcement, Fire personnel, Emergency Medical Services, and an abundance of other organizations together as a team to reduce crime in your area. As well as give you vital information about things that may concern you or your neighbors.
